DEC 2 – Planned Water System Maintenance – PBWN update

Dec4 Update – The PBWN has been rescinded.  Bill Young, our super-duper water testing guy got it done quicker than expected.  Thanks Bill!

While we were confident there would be little to worry about, other than stirring up some sediment in the pipes, we had to pass 2 consecutive days of lab test to release the PBWN.  Thanks again for everyone’s patience.

Dec2 Update – The inspection & system downtime, etc went mostly according to plan.  The water system came back online approx 5pm.  Water pressure will be lower than normal until the system can fully restore itself, usually 24-48 hours.

You may notice extra chlorine over the next couple days as all the water is “fresh”.  FYI chlorine is added to kill bacteria and is required.

Even so, we remain under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice until we can get 2 days of clean lab results.  Which probably means Monday as we cannot get results on the weekends….  Be patient.  There are no known issues, but regulations say the PWBN must remain in place.

We are required by DEP to insect our water tank every 5 years.

Expect water Service to be shut down on Dec2 9am – 6pm

It may take 24hrs for Water pressure to return to normal.

Precautionary Boil Water Notice will be in effect thru Dec 4  (minimum)

FYI – We physically drain the tanks, an engineer crawls inside perform his inspection, then we begin filling the tanks again (which can take hours).  Because there is no water pressure in the system, we are required to issue a PBWN, precautionary boil water notice.   Once we received 2 days of “clean” lab results, the PBWN will be lifted.

As always, after any water pressure loss, it is a good idea to run water thru your house for 10 min to release possible trapped air, or loose sediment that may have been stirred up.

Remember, if your water initially looks, smells, tastes terrible – don’t drink it.  Flush again.

This is the first and only system downtime planned for 2021.  Good news is that the inspection is only required every 5 years!

Please be patient.  Do not engage or complain to the crew while they are working, it will only take longer to complete.  If you feel you can do a better job or would like to assist, we invite you to join the Water Committee.  Tim, David, Chuck
